Who Would I Contact In The Uk To Find Out About The Drug Culture In Henan Province, China?

I’m doing some research into drug culture in different societies and I need some information about Henan Province in China. More specifically it would be helpful to find out some info regarding the older generation’s understanding of drugs in that area.

I think you would be making a big mistake by trying to contact any official Chinese agency when trying to do drug use research about China. The Chinese are very sensitive when it comes to exposing issues that are not flattering to their country. Your name would most lkely be on a list of those who are deemed anti-Chinese and someone who is looking to show China in a bad light. You will most likely never be able to obtain a visa for travel to China, and if you were to travel to China to do research on a subject such as this, you could very well be arrested as a spy. I think much of the information you want can be obtained through various CIA, Worldbank, and statistical websites etc., although maybe not the opinions of the older generation when it comes to drug use, there are plenty of overseas Chinese you could possibly contact for that purpose and many Chinese students studying abroad to gain insight about your reasearch. you could try the chinese embassy, but it depends how truthful any embassy is about its nation’s problems.
try the brittish consulate in china, or talk to people who have been there.

Best will be the Chinese Embassy and let them know your needs and ask how they can help. Make sure to specify this is for history research, they may be more accommodating.
